KERRY MICHAEL STROUP, 74, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving and devoted family, on April 19, 2024. Kerry graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School, earned his bachelor’s degree at the College of Wooster, and his master’s and doctorate at The Ohio State University. Following his academic years, Kerry’s career in public utilities and the energy industry included leadership roles at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, the National Regulatory Research Institute, and PJM Interconnection. Kerry was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jean and Jack Stroup; father-in-law Donald Stanford; and brother-in-law William "Butch" Casto.
Kerry is survived by his wife Melissa Stanford Stroup; children Hailey (Chris) Stroup Brunner, Scott (Maddie) Stroup, and Lydia Stroup; his beloved granddaughter, Sadie; siblings Kristen (Greg) Jones of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Tom (Barbara) Stroup of Marietta, Georgia, and Jody Stroup of Ashland, Ohio; mother-in-law Gussie Stanford of Columbus, Ohio; brother-in-law Donald (Kellie) Stanford; sister-in-law Libby Casto; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Kerry’s kind, generous, and joyful spirit inspires them all.
The family invites friends to calling hours at Cityview Church, 1150 W. 5th Avenue, Columbus, OH 43212, on Sunday, May 5, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM to share in their gratitude for Kerry. A celebration of life is being planned for Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbus. Please check back for additional details.
